Dear Diabetic Carer
Let’s
get right to the reason why you’re here.
You have heard so much about the problems that Diabetes
can cause.
"Amputations", "my feet will fall off", "I will
never be able to wear any shoe again"- these are
just some of the real comments made by my patients.
Diabetes has
got the whole world in a strangle hold. You
don't know if to keep your feet off the ground
all day, everyday or even dare to walk on the
floor.
Many of the
patients that walk into my clinic have spent
hundreds of dollars on potions, products and
clinical care because they have been told to.
On this page
you will finally find out what treatment, what advice and
ultimately what care the patient should be
getting.
"Upto 50% of older patients with Type 2 Diabetes
have one or more risk factors for foot
ulceration..."
It is not to
say that there are bad clinicians out there, but
at the end of the day a patient should receive a
certain level of care whoever they are. And with
that level of care should be education.
Out of all the amputations
related to Diabetes, up to 80%
could have been saved before the patient went
under the knife and lost a toe, foot or even
their leg. Yes you read that right:
Up to 80% of ALL amputations
could have been saved.
By now I
suspect that you are thinking, "who on earth are
you?".

That’s my clinic, “L&D Footcare"
We also have
links to other services:
-
Two of the
largest nursing organisations in the region
refer consistently to us
-
Local
Doctors refer
their patients to us
-
The
hospital sends
us their patients
-
We are
called upon to talk to
other health professionals about
specific conditions and questions that they
might have related to footcare.
A
patient has Diabetes, so what does that mean for
their feet?
There are various types
of Diabetics out there. Now I am not talking
about Type 1 or 2, but there are measured risk
factors and various ways that you can measure
how compromised a Diabetic truly is.
This
information is widely known to the people "in
the know" rather than a clinician who rarely
sees Diabetics. To a point where in the UK they
used this system and people who were getting footcare didn't need to come back because
they could manage themselves.
All the systems
that are in place are designed specifically to
help the Diabetic...but if you don't know
about them then you are going to be so concerned
or worried about your feet that sometimes it
just gets too much. Then you read scary
headlines, talk to people over a coffee
listening to horror stories...and that just
makes it even worse.
I recently had
a patient who came into our clinic frightened
out of his wits because he was diagnosed with
Neuropathy- no feeling in the feet. He was
tearful, he really was. He even stopped his
holiday plans because he didn't want to go
walking in sandals. We checked him over- in 5
minutes and realised that he didn't
have neuropathy...his risk status was reduced
and plenty of advice was given (which he
never heard of before). The patient walked away
with confidence, self esteem, and even brought
to him some power over his Diabetes.
Did you know that there are 2 simple
painless techniques to determine if a
Diabetic has any
blood or nerve foot problems?
The most common
mistake that most clinicians make- ranging from
Doctors all the way through to even
Chiropodists is that they do not know or even
realize that there are some very simple methods
to making sure that a Diabetic does not have any blood or
nerve problems in your feet. And even if
they do, usually the procedure is not correct. Oh and
it isn't
any of the following:
These are the
most common methods for testing either your
blood or nerves to your feet. Each one comes
with a negative reason of why it shouldn't be
used...any positives? No, only for the reason is
that you get very little information or even
repeatable information from the above tests. Oh
they do get used, and they are usually widely
regarding...problem is they tell us nothing
about the 2 main reasons of why you can get
problems with your feet.
Listen, I’m not showing you these
little secrets and "I do these but these people
don't" information power points to inflate my
own ego . I’m showing them to you because
I want to show you what’s possible. We now live in a
world where Doctors seem to busy and money
dictates who gets seen by whom. But with a
little bit of professional information and a
step-by-step process, there is no reason why
you can't be proactive in your own Diabetic foot
health without the worry of something going
wrong.
I mean, when a patient has to wait over 3
months to be seen by a clinician, sometimes
something can go wrong.
Timing
is always the key, and that vital bit of
knowledge
can save the patient's toe, foot or even their leg.
What we (and
research) has noted is that if you
give a
patient enough knowledge then they will be able
to identify problems and immediately act upon
them without the initial need to visit expensive
clinicians.
This has been
demonstrated effectively with the common cold.
Years ago, when the general public got a strong
cold they used to visit the Doctors for
antibiotics to "cure their cold". This went on
for many years. However, the common cold is
passed on through a virus, not a bacteria- which
antibiotics act upon. Public information
trickled down and now far fewer people visit the
Doctor for "a common cold" and over the counter
medication is soaring.
It is the same
with the Diabetic foot. Not all problems
with the foot require treatment and can easily
be treated at home. Some conditions can even be
misdiagnosed, and some can be under diagnosed
where a hospital visit is vital.
I plan to give you the simple,
easy to use systems- giving
you all the information you need to know about your Diabetic
feet.
 |
What
2
things a Diabetic needs to do straight away |
 |
What
3
things a Diabetic needs to do before
they buy any
socks- even Diabetic socks. |
 |
What
Diabetes actually does to their feet, how you
can stop it
from occurring and how you can
identify any problems |
 |
Why
their
feet are hot, warm, sweaty...or even dry and
cold. |
 |
Why a warm
foot with a bounding pulse is
not the best
foot in the world even if their Doctor thinks
it is |
 |
How to
identify and alert
someone to a powerful
destructive foot problem
predominantly affecting
Diabetics...that many
non-diagnose. |
 |
How to
reduce Diabetic foot pain
and eye blurring without
medication |
 |
How to
properly cut toenails...cutting across is
not the way to go |
 |
What on earth
do you do if you see an
ulcer- yes, I will show
you how to spot one and care
for it while you wait to be
seen. |
|
But we just do not stop there...we need to jump
one big hurdle first.
What the clinician should be doing with the
Diabetic foot.
These are basic steps which they
should follow.
The Diabetic Foot
can be daunting- is that red mark something to
refer on about or is simply just a red mark?
Simple things sometimes can become the a major
catastrophe in a clinicians head. Yet, on the
other hand we have seen simple foot lesions go
undetected.
So what do you
do. How can you identify problems from
non-issues? Well you can to a point, you
just need to know what you are looking at and
what you are looking for. Then when you have
identified an issue...you need to take care of
it, and that doesn't always mean wrapping it up
and hoping for the best. The best Diabetic
wounds heal because you know they are going to
heal. They actually show you that they are
healing. There are ways to know if the ulcer
is going bad. And you even have a time limit
to their healing.
There are even
multiple amounts of dressings available to heal
any Diabetic wound...but most are used
inappropriately. And this other one thing that
many people forget about- the foot- also
causes many issues with dressings.
We have kept patients over
their appointment time explaining what is going
on, the treatment methods and the various plans
that are going to help them initially and in the
long-run. You do have a plan don't you?
If not, I can show you how to create a simple
plan that identifies the issues causing the
ulcer and how to fix them. We even give out our email address so
that patients can contact us at any time if they
have a question. It is just the right thing
to do.
So the question is...do you want better
understanding to deal with the Diabetic
foot...confidently?
Sometimes there is just too
much information that is banded around online.
Some are written by professionals...in
professional language with little concern over
the general public...i.e...using language that
only a dictionary can understand. Or you have
those websites that are created by a computer or
someone with no experience in the medical
condition.
You must have seen those "cure
your Diabetes just like the 78 year old house
wife". Some are just dangerous text
online that just shouldn't be there...no
credentials and just a lot of hot air.
Some clinicians
actually state the following...which ones are
true, which ones are false?
-
Diabetics can
wear open toed sandals
-
Diabetics can
use corn plasters
-
Foot soaks are
good for Diabetics
-
Neuropathy only
occurs in the Diabetic's later life
-
If a Diabetic
can not feel anything, then it's OK
-
Fungus toenails
are a priority for Diabetics
-
Thickened
toenails cause no issues to Diabetics
So how did you do?
If you said that they were all false then
you would be...correct. Those bullet pointed
statements are all false, yet so many clinicians
have given advice in regard to those very
statements.
There is very little trust.
So when I decided to make my Diabetic footcare
information available, I just wanted to help
as many Diabetics as much as I could.
I knew
that my professional background, plus my ability
to talk to the general public about medical
issues- putting technical terms in "layman's
terms" was much needed, especially when my own
clinic was obtaining patients who had very
little Diabetic footcare information- which
was actually putting their feet at risk.
I have put everything down
that you need to know covering the basics of
Diabetic footcare all the way through to how you
can prevent and treat problems before they
become a major concern.
A simple yet complete Diabetes footcare turn-key
information guide? "It's just like having a
go-to foot
care professional".

I want you to know every aspect of Diabetic
footcare. I want to keep on keeping your
patient's feet safe and for
you to have that precise knowledge to
identify ANY foot issue before it occurs...so
that you can get you help when ever you need it.

Most clinicians have very little "key points"
about Diabetes...this is the whole system...
When you take a course, it can be
expensive can't it? You have travel expenses,
hotel costs and not forgetting the ACTUAL course
itself.
I usually charge (per person) $147 for this
information. I also throw in some extra time
consultation as part of the package- because it
is a big topic...it is a big issue and sometimes
at course time all the information goes in and
you "get it". But come to seeing a
patient it tends to be worrying. So I give
out my email so we can "bounce ideas" off
each other and I can (possibly) answer some
questions that you might be holding onto.
But the truth is, most people do
not have this type of money lying around...especially in
this economic climate.
So what do I
do? I had a serious think and decided to
reward people who wanted to know about
Diabetic footcare...at an amazing discounted
price.
Hey,
if you
are willing to go that extra mile and to be
proactive in doing something to help you
learn more about Diabetic footcare then all I can do is applaud you.
So just for an
amazingly small price of $47 you can have access
to hundreds of dollars worth of information and
consultation fees.
I believe it is
